- Local Entrepreneur helps fund Klein ISD Graduates' college educationsPosted on: 2011-07-02Wade Martinez is an entrepreneur who is making a difference in the Spring, TX area.
In 1988, CBS Services began with a high school boy, a lawn mower, and a dream in 1988. Now, after more than twenty years, CBS Services encompasses Smarter Sprinklers, Blue Point Pools, Signature Landscaping, Smarter Lighting and Nightscapes, CBS Pool Care, and CBS Lawn Care.
What makes Wade Martinez unique, though, is certainly not his field of work, but whom he chooses to hire. CBS is an acronym for 'College Bound Students.' Wade hires college-bound students to work in the office. He gives them experience in their areas of interest. For example, one employee is a business major and has been able to gain experience in the business aspect of the company. She is also interested in an editing minor and has had the opportunity to edit a book that Wade is writing and plans to publish.
In addition to paid experience, Wade also gives these students a $1000 base scholarship with opportunity for bonus to help us cover their college expenses. Customer service, commitment to excellence, and adedication to providing college scholarships remains the foundation and future of his organization
Mary, a current employee, states, 'Wade's scholarship program will help me pay my college tuition and buy my books so I can get my education and move myself forward towards the time when I can also give back to the community.' -
